Meet ITY's Volunteers

Executive President

— DANNY SANTANA

I spent 24 years as a gang member in and out of prison. As a gang leader I was very committed in my criminal activities. After 25 years of living on the wrong side of the law. I have now made a commitment to give back to my community by actively engaging in community outreach, mentoring and violence intervention. I volunteer mostly at non-profits and community centers through-out the city of Boston. Founder/CEO of ITY, committee member on the advisory board for ORC, certified Recovery Coach, certified Trauma Team Specialist, certified Fatherhood Ambassador and Domestic Violence Advocate.

Executive Treasure

— MELISSA SMITH

With us since our founding, Melissa Smith is one of our veteran team members and has played a critical role in shaping our mission and projects. She brings years of experience and skills in helping ITY Inspiring Today’s Youth grow and make a measurable impact.

Executive Clerk

— JESSICA ZAMORA

Currently works as Area Manager at MGH. Previously worked at the Boston Public Health Commission’s Police department as the Executive Assistant to the Chief and Deputy. Has also served as a translator for Revere Public Schools for 8 years. Has worked in management for over 15 years. One fun fact about Jessica is that she is a licensed esthetician and make-up artist in Massachusetts since 2005.

Her friendship and commitment to the support of ITY is outstanding.  Her belief in our mission and what we stand for is unwavering and her administration experience provides us with adequate component needed in all of ITY filings.

Board of Directors

A well-respected member of the ITY Inc. (Inspiring Today’s Youth) team, Peter O’Karma is one of our most supportive members and has played a vital role in shaping our vision and programs. He bring years of experience in making ITY Inc. (Inspiring Today’s Youth) a community brand.

Peter O’Karma has been an attorney in the Boston area for almost fifteen years.  His firm, O’Karma Law, wears a variety of hats for innumerable clients, from public defender and private counsel in the criminal justice sphere, civil litigator for those injured through no fault of their own, to advisor and contract negotiator for sneaker stores, laboratories and cannabis retailers, and other various establishments in the business world.

Outside of the legal world, Peter has been an active musician and DJ throughout various music scenes, from playing in bands to hosting a FM radio show dedicated to local/independent hip-hop and r&b artists, from co-founding the scratch cohort Table Manners to developing programs and teaching classes at a dj/music production school.

With his commitment to helping those around him, Peter has been recruited to advise our organization on any legal matters that may arise. To help create our pilot program with the courts through his contacts as a criminal defense lawyer and to help with the over all success of ITY.
